PLE Results Release: UNEB Officials To Test For COVID

In a recent development, the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has confirmed the release of the Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) results for the year 2023. The announcement follows the board securing an appointment to brief the First Lady, Janet Museveni, who also serves as the Minister of Education and Sports.

The briefing session with the Education Minister is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at 11:00 am at State House Nakasero. Subsequently, the eagerly anticipated PLE results are set to be unveiled to the public on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at the same venue and time.

Officials involved in the briefing have been directed to undergo a mandatory COVID-19 test on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at Mulago Platinum Centre from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Jennifer Kalule, the spokesperson for UNEB, disclosed earlier this week that the examinations body had formally requested an appointment with Minister Janet Museveni for a briefing before the public release of the results. This customary briefing allows the Minister of Education to be apprised of the learners’ performance.

Following the release of the PLE results, the Senior One selection exercise is expected to commence. Typically conducted at UMA, schools will choose candidates based on set cut-off points.

In the 2023 PLE session, a total of 749,347 pupils participated, comprising 391,558 females and 357,789 males. As the nation awaits the unveiling of the results, anticipation grows for the subsequent selection exercise, a crucial step in the academic journey of these learners.
