I don’t see any future in that FDC and I don’t want to waste time – Ssemuju
Kira Municipality MP, Honorable Ssemuju Nganda, has declared his imminent departure from the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), marking an end to his 13-year association with the party. The decision comes amidst growing disillusionment within the party ranks, triggered by allegations of financial impropriety involving Party Secretary General Nandala Mafabi and President Yoweri Museveni.
Nganda, who has been a prominent figure within the FDC and served as the Party Spokesperson, found himself at odds with the party leadership after retreating from the Party Head office in Najjanankumbi to Katonga. Despite efforts to assert the legitimacy of the Katonga faction within the FDC, including support from former President Besigye and other key figures, their endeavors proved unsuccessful.
In an exclusive interview with the Weekly Observer, a publication with which he has longstanding ties, Ssemuju Nganda voiced his concerns and announced his departure. “I don’t see any future in that FDC and I don’t want to waste time,” he emphasized.
The departure of Ssemuju Nganda marks a significant shift within the FDC and underscores the challenges facing the party as it navigates internal divisions and external pressures. As Nganda moves forward, the political landscape in Kira Municipality and beyond awaits the implications of his decision.
