In a significant development, former Vice President of Uganda, Gilbert Bukenya, has been appointed as the Senior Presidential Advisor on Environment and Sanitation. Bukenya, who served as Vice President from May 2003 to May 2011, has resurfaced from a period of relative political inactivity, often referred to locally as “katebe”.
This appointment underscores the government’s commitment to bolstering environmental initiatives and addressing sanitation challenges across the nation. Bukenya’s extensive experience in public service, coupled with his background in politics, positions him as a valuable asset in advising on strategic environmental policies.
During his tenure as Vice President, Bukenya played a pivotal role in various governmental affairs, contributing to the nation’s socio-economic development agenda. His return to a prominent advisory role reflects a continuation of his dedication to serving the people of Uganda.
