Resolutions on Bunyoro University

In a recent meeting chaired by Dr. Paul Kyalimpa and attended by various stakeholders including members of the Bunyoro Development Think Tank and Bunyoro University Group, several resolutions were made regarding the establishment and progress of Bunyoro University. Here are the key resolutions:

Consultation with Ministry of Education: The Bunyoro University Task Force (BUTF) is urged to consult with the Minister of Education to align plans for Bulera with those for Bunyoro University, considering Bulera’s potential conversion into Other Degree Awarding Institutions.

Fast-tracking land acquisition at Bulera: Efforts should be accelerated to secure land at Bulera to expedite the allocation of a budget vote for Bunyoro University in the upcoming fiscal year.

Land acquisition in Buhimba: BUTF is directed to expedite the acquisition of unencumbered land in Buhimba for Bunyoro University, clarifying conditions regarding existing trees on the land.

BKK’s contribution: The meeting scheduled for April 16, 2024, between the Royal Commission and Gulu University will discuss the transfer of properties occupied by Gulu University back to Bunyoro Kingdom, potentially as a contribution to Bunyoro University rather than requiring rent payments.

These resolutions aim to streamline the establishment process of Bunyoro University and ensure timely progress towards its operationalization, taking into account both logistical and administrative considerations.
