The House of Bishops of the Church of Uganda, convening at the Daniel Uganda Missional Centre in Lweza, today, April 17th, 2024, has elected Rev Canon Jacob Ateirweho as the 6th Bishop of the Diocese of Bunyoro Kitara.
Rev Canon Jacob Ateirweho is scheduled to be consecrated and enthroned as the 6th Bishop on August 11th, 2024, at St. Peter’s Cathedral, Hoima.
Born on August 24th, 1968, at Hoima Hospital, Hoima District, Rev Canon Jacob Ateirweho embraced Christianity on April 5th, 1991. He was ordained as a Deacon on February 5th, 2006, and as a priest on July 23rd, 2006.
He is married to Irene Kobusinge, and they are blessed with 5 biological children.
Rev Canon Jacob Ateirweho holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Divinity from Uganda Christian University and currently serves as the Vicar of All Saints Church, Hoima Town Parish, in the Diocese of Bunyoro Kitara.
