Banyoro Demand Release of Presidential Advisor Ayeranga

A group of Banyoro, under the banner of the “Free Ayeranga Group,” has called on the government to immediately release Ayeranga Michael, a newly appointed Presidential Advisor on Bunyoro affairs, whose whereabouts remain unknown.

Press statement

In a press statement issued by the group’s coordinator, Matia Kajura, it is alleged that Ayeranga was forcibly taken by unidentified men in uniform around Kampala. Despite efforts to locate him, his current whereabouts remain unclear.

“We are deeply concerned about Ayeranga’s safety. He was picked up in broad daylight, and since then, no one has been able to establish where he is being held or why he was taken,” Kajura said.

The group also hinted at possible internal political dynamics within the Bunyoro region, alleging that a prominent Minister from the area could be involved in Ayeranga’s arrest. They demanded the government swiftly clarify the situation and ensure Ayeranga’s immediate and safe return.

Ayeranga Michael’s recent appointment as a Presidential Advisor has made him a significant figure in Bunyoro’s political landscape, further heightening concerns among the Banyoro community about his sudden disappearance.

The government has yet to comment on the allegations, but the Free Ayeranga Group insists they will continue to press for his release until they receive answers.
