Today, the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, along with Hon. Ministers Chris Baryomunsi (ICT and National Guidance) and Major Gen. Jim Muhwezi (Security), and Rt. Hon. Rose Namayanja, the NRM Deputy Secretary General, held a crucial meeting with owners and managers of various media houses at their office.

The high-level discussion centered around the unprecedented opportunities that the upcoming Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and G77 and China summits will bring to Uganda. Scheduled to be hosted at the prestigious Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala, the NAM summit is set to run from the 15th to the 20th, while the G77 and China summit will follow from the 21st to the 23rd of this month.

Prime Minister Nabbanja expressed Uganda’s privilege in hosting these significant international summits, which will attract Heads of State and Government, government delegates, and global business representatives. In an effort to maximize the benefits for Ugandans, the Prime Minister revealed a strategic move by the government.

As part of the comprehensive strategy, the Government has organized the East African Business Forum and Trade Exhibition to coincide with the summit meetings. This parallel event is set to take place at the prestigious Kampala Serena Hotel.

The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of media houses in mobilizing the public to tap into the vast opportunities presented by these summits. With global leaders, policymakers, and business magnates converging in Kampala, the East African Business Forum and Trade Exhibition serves as a platform for Ugandans to engage with international stakeholders and explore avenues for collaboration and business growth.

The upcoming gatherings not only solidify Uganda’s position on the global stage but also offer a unique chance for the country to showcase its potential and foster partnerships that can drive economic development. As the nation eagerly awaits the commencement of the NAM and G77/China summits, the East African Business Forum and Trade Exhibition stand as a testament to Uganda’s commitment to leveraging these international events for the benefit of its citizens and businesses.
