President Museveni Reappoints Joseph Biribonwa as NIRA Board Chairman
Kampala, Uganda — President Yoweri Museveni has reappointed Joseph Biribonwa as the Chairman of the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) board. Biribonwa, who initially took office in January 2020, has been instrumental in driving fundamental changes within the organization.
Before his tenure at NIRA, Biribonwa served as the Deputy Chairman of the Electoral Commission of Uganda. He brings to the position more than 40 years of professional experience spanning democracy and governance, management and administration, finance, and corporate governance.
Since Biribonwa’s accession to the chairmanship, NIRA has seen significant improvements and reforms aimed at enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of national identification and registration processes.
